Movies on the Move was born in 1998 out of a simple but powerful idea: that every community deserves a proper cinema experience – regardless of whether they have a cinema nearby. For over two decades, the business built a reputation across Victoria for delivering professional, memorable outdoor movie events to schools, clubs, councils, and families.
In February 2026, the business passed into the hands of Ron – a Geelong-based technician, entertainer, and lifelong movie lover who saw in Movies on the Move not just a business, but a vehicle for a bigger dream.

Ron brings 12 years of experience as a professional DJ and a deep background in electronics and audio engineering to every event. When he sets up for your movie night, the technical side is completely covered. No fumbling with cables. No grainy picture. No blown speakers. Just a brilliant cinema experience, wherever you are.

Rick, started “Movies on the Move” in 2001, and has been pleasing audiences for the last 25 years.
The Mantle has now been passed to Ron, a person who is a strong force for good in the community, who loves movies too – and is looking forward to bringing joy to audiences for many years to come.
Ron didn’t purchase Movies on the Move to run a hire company. He purchased it because it puts him one step closer to something he’s been working towards for years: a permanent drive-in cinema, right here in Victoria.
But the journey there is as important as the destination. Before building anything permanent, Ron is committed to proving his craft – one community at a time, one event at a time, one spectacular night at a time.
The long-term vision is for Movies on the Move to become a travelling cinema that visits country towns, paddocks, and community halls across regional Victoria, bringing a proper cinema experience to places that have never had one.

Professional Sound System
Up to four speaker towers for large events, two for smaller gatherings. Crystal clear audio tuned to the venue. For drive-in events, FM radio transmission delivers sound directly to your car stereo.
FM Radio Transmitter (Drive-In Events)
Our drive-in setup broadcasts the movie audio directly to vehicle FM radios - the authentic drive-in experience, exactly as it was meant to be.
Fully Self-Contained & Mobile
Everything travels on our trailer and truck. We arrive with everything needed - all you provide is the location and the audience.

We are not a fly-by-night operation. Every event we run is backed by the proper licences, insurance, and professional standards.
Public Liability Insurance
We carry full public liability insurance for every event we run. Your peace of mind is part of the package.
Movie Licensing Accounts
We hold public performance licensing accounts, allowing us to legally screen movies at any public event - including current cinema releases.
DCP Certified Equipment
Our DCP projectors meet commercial cinema standards. This certification is what enables us to screen new-release content legally.

Booking Is Straightforward
Contact us with your event details → receive a clear, itemised quote → pay your $440 deposit to lock in the date (this covers your movie licence) → we handle everything on the night. Lead time: 1–12 months.
