What is movie night in a box?
Cinema Hire You Collect from Geelong & Set Up Yourself.
Movie Night in a Box is our DIY cinema hire kit. You collect the projector, screen, and sound equipment from our Geelong base, follow our step-by-step setup guide, run your own movie night, and return the kit when you’re done. It’s that straightforward.
The standard arrangement is pick-up and drop-off from Geelong. This keeps the cost down and the process simple. If you need a hand with setup or pack-down, or if you’d rather we deliver to your location, we offer flexible add-ons for that (see the service options below).
The key difference from our Special Occasions service: with Movie Night in a Box, you do the work. With Special Occasions, our team arrives, handles everything, and stays all night. Movie Night in a Box is the lower-cost option – the trade-off is the effort on your end.

Cinema Made Simple
At Movies on the Move, we believe there’s something special about sharing a movie together. In today’s world, it’s easy for everyone to disappear into separate screens, separate rooms, and separate routines. A movie night brings people back together.
Movie Night in a Box allows you to create that experience whenever and wherever you choose. There’s no need to worry about complicated equipment or expensive purchases. We’ve done the hard work for you by putting together a simple, easy-to-use package that delivers a genuine big-screen experience at home.
Simply choose your location, invite your guests, pick up the box, set up the equipment, and enjoy the show.
Whether it’s a family movie marathon during the school holidays, a birthday celebration for the kids, or a relaxing evening with friends, Movie Night in a Box gives you the freedom to create an event that’s uniquely yours.
Why Choose Movies on the Move?
There are plenty of ways to watch a movie, but there’s something different about watching it on a big screen outdoors.
Movie Night in a Box gives you the flexibility to host your event your way while still benefiting from professional-quality equipment. You choose the movie, the guest list, the location, and the schedule.
Unlike purchasing your own projector and screen, you don’t need to worry about storage, maintenance, upgrades, or investing in equipment you’ll only use occasionally.
You’ll enjoy the excitement of a cinema experience without the long-term commitment or expense.
Most importantly, you’ll create an event that brings people together.
At Movies on the Move, we’re passionate about helping people connect through shared experiences. Whether we’re running a large community movie night or providing a simple backyard cinema package, our goal remains the same: helping create memorable moments through the magic of movies.
